Title: Is this a PRO Gear new reel?
Post by: Black Pearl on August 03, 2018, 12:12:30 AM
I saw this one online bidding site. By the way, whatever happened to the PRO Gear website?

Yes, that's their new Oceanus star drag.

It looks good,  right out of the box.
    1. Ratcheting star drag?   Sound like a possible improvement.
    2.  The wide paddle area on the drag star certainly will be comfortable with the higher drag settings.
    3.  The high speed gears should find a following.
Has a market somewhere.  Time will tell.     Just saying.🎣

Looks like someone else owns the old site now.

Yes. The oceanus SD25 is the newest reel pro gear has to offer. Company is still run by the same owner and I own the SD25. Fished it for an overnight out of Aztec and limited Skipjacks and YFT during august. super smooth and the new star with the power handle is amazing. Reel is smooth as butter and casts for miles. Highly recommend.

I noticed that the other day when I was researching the 440 parts for a customer...just a general tackle store online at progearfishingreels.com. It's a shame, online presence usually helps a manufacturer.
http://www.progearreel.com/ is just a dead site :(
