I tried searching here and the web but I couldn't find a definite answer.
I was given this older Abu Garcia. I still seems to work great, just needs a good servicing.
I can't find a model number on it, but did find the number 820100 stamped on the bottom of the foot.
I'd love any info you can give. I'll post after pics too when I'm done going through it.

I'm not sure when the domed palming side plates replaced the flat side plates - sometime in the late 70s I think.

Agree, Mike...I have a pair of 1973's from a yard sale 20 years ago that are still in use frequently with flat side and cast control...love them. My first Abu was a 5500C which I got in about 1982 from my dad, and it already had a couple years of wear on it then. Also still in the rotation :) It had the dome plates and no control knob by then.
IIRC, the domed sideplates were introduced ~1980. That reel is most likely a 5600C.
