Title: First Newell, now I’m hooked
Post by: kimopods on October 20, 2020, 10:10:55 AM
A few months ago I managed to purchase a 322 from a fellow AT member. They are used a lot here in Hawaii for them being lightweight and having great casting capabilities. I've always fished Penns but wanted to add something different to my arsenal.

The reel in its original form when it arrived in the mail.

Ordered Cortez Conversions SS gear sleeve as well as Bryan's Ultimate Upgrades 5+1 drag kit.

Then came some aluminum side plates from Bryan Young, extended with a Tiburon 344 frame and spool.

Final touches were a Tiburon drag star and Newell offset handle with an eva knob from Pro Challenger.

Living up to Newell reputation, the reel casts amazing. Smooth and a lot of drag coming from Bryan's drag kit. I love how everything is secured to the bridge assembly with these reels. Makes taking them apart and putting back together so much easier and quicker then my Penns. Being my first Newell I have nothing but a great impression on these reels and will definitely look to acquire more in the future.

You definitely made it totally cool. Another Newell Nut in the making and very nice work. When you get ready to increase your collection I may part with a queen or two. I only have 42 of them. ;D ;D

Thank you.

42?! Wouldn't mind taking one off your hands in the future  ;)

That he is. Helped me get a lot of parts and reels over the years.
