finally got to make something work for penn 975 reel foot..not pretty but it will work..

joe, that's a great idea.  never thought of it. 

i was thinking about finding a stainless steel reel seat like that.  doesn't matter who makes it.   you could grind off the wings, polish up the edges, drill and countersink the holes and create a new reel seat, just like the old one.  what would be really cool would be if some of our more machine shop talented guys could actually make a press for form a stainless steel strip to give the steel that same curve, then grind the ends, polish, drill and countersink.  it's alot of work, though.
