No mods to make those fit?
I had to remove the handle to put the round one on, the Diawa fit as is. I think the arm for the round handle was a a Diawa too.

What reel did that handle come from? Not the round one.
I do not remember.
Same, it was many years ago. Hopefully someone here without CRS can help.
i measured the shaft on my 5500C handle, it's 3x7mm. i know ABU offers a counterbalanced power handle like Keta's pics, and some aftermarket handles on ebay are offered in 3x7mm or 4x8mm slot sizes. dunno what size you have though.
I found these on eBay for about $10 shipped
I tried a TronixPro power handle - comfortable but didn't really like it. I went back to the original handle but added a couple of knob covers. Also I couldn't see the need for a 'power handle' on a 5500 size reel :-\

My reel is an AKios 5500, but is the same size as the original ABU.

The small handles hurt my arthritis and cause my busted up hands to cramp up fast.

+1 on arthritis in hands. I used a gomexus knob on my penn spinner for 3 hours a couple of weeks ago (big step up from the little flat handle that came stock) and my fingers/grasp was pretty stiff and painful the next 2 days
$20 with shipping included, if you are interested!
I put that handle on all my 6500's. That's a nice price from the Boss.
i agree i don't like the stock handle on 5501...it's on the wrong side of the reel!!!! :)

I think I will take it...shall I pm you?
please!!!! ;D
I would think these power handles would cause you to over power these reels. Yes they're good reels but they are still a medium light reel.
I've seen videos where guys tighten these drags down with channel locks, I don't see an extra inch or so of swing tearing them up. If the original arm is 1.5 inch and you increase it to 2 your adding what, 5-10 inch pounds if your a muscle builder?
The Man
That Handle that Alan has would be ideal, if you know the capacity, of your reel you set the drag to that, know matter how long the handle is, just my two bobs worth, good luck cheers Don.
Hey Alan,
Got anymore in the garage ???
I've been looking for a couple !!!

ditto...
in that scenario, locking down the drag w/ mechanical aid is the TACKLE-DON'T!!!
maximizing comfort while using the reel within its class, is a BIG TACKLE-DO!!!
why use a nice stapler to hammer nails -- get a cheap hammer
I use the ABU power handle on my 6501's and I have had no issues with them.
