Hi All..
Its summer here so the fishing season has come to an end and I'm back onto some servicing. Have been doing a few upgrades and thought it would be worth sharing..
A few pics below of a Shimano Stradic FI 5000
Basically replaced the nylon bushes on the worm shaft with bearings, 3 x 6 x 3 at both ends

Pic 4 Modification - from left to right, shortened bush (to accommodate modification), 2 x .20mm outer ring spacers), 3 x 6 x 3 bearing, 1x .20 inner ring spacer, factory spacer, gear, worm shaft, ax .20 inner ring spacer, bearing, 2 x .20mm spacer

The only other reel I am aware of in the Shimano range that includes bearings on the worm shaft would be the Stella..certainly makes for a smooth, free spinning reel..
Have done a similar thing to a few Twin Power 5000's SWA - albeit a bit more work, you need to bore out the front housing to accommodate the front bearing (6mm outer) like above makes for a very smooth reel..

Nice upgrade Clem, I'm always amazed by your projects.
Mate, you're a craftsman.
Great work as always.
Drilling the Twinpower is a gutsy effort. ;) ;D
Cheers, Justin
