Title: Another Torium identification problem
Post by: retiredandfishing on July 06, 2020, 07:16:28 PM
Seem to be on a roll with the Torium.  Have another Torium 30 in my shop.  This one is different inside from the drawing and from one I have from another customer.  Has a main bearing above the roller bearing and has a bushing for the right side spindle.  Also it has no pinion bearing.  Totally different from the 30 HGA drawing which has no main bearing above the roller bearing, has a pinion bearing and a bearing on the R/S spindle

However the Torium 50 drawing matches with this reel but the outside cover is marked Torium 30. Anyone have any idea what I have?

Thanks, Steve

Well after some research I can now answer my own question LOL.  It seems the original Torium 30 did have the main bearing and other parts similar to the Torium 50.  It is the older model and not either an HGA or a PGA . So a fairly large design change from the Torium 30 to the Torium 30 HGA.  But, the outside looks the same.

Huh? The outside of a Torium 30 and 30A are completely different AFAIK...

A-series has the one-piece frame, rounded gearbox, and is much darker in colour...
