Title: Penn SSV 4500 spool bearing
Post by: kenwahoo on December 23, 2013, 08:07:15 AM
One of the bearings is very stiff unlike the other which spins freely. Reel is just out of warranty. As ceramic bearings are now reasonably priced I'm thinking of getting one. Before I do so I'd like someone to confirm the dimensions of the bearing so I don't order the wrong one. Can someone measure theirs for confirmation? thanks

No matter, I went to my RC hobby shop and bought a 8x16x5mm and it fit perfectly. Only thing it's not stainless but at $1.30 per I can replace it cheaply. Was looking at getting a ceramic but it cost $7.60 and the advice was that the ceramic was not much better. I can get 6 steel ones for that price and since I'm happy to do my own maintenance I'll stick to steel for now.
