Title: Ice Storm
Post by: Shark Hunter on February 09, 2018, 05:35:13 AM
We got a fair amount of Ice Tuesday Night.
I tried to find my Camera yesterday, but couldn't.
The ice is still on the trees today, its been so damn cold.
I think the Trees look Angelic when they are like this.

We have the ice here too Daron...I walked across the yard to the mailbox because the driveway is a trip to ER waiting to happen. The grass snapped off like dry twigs.

It was 80 degrees at work yesterday in Holister Ca. It's to early for this weather but it was sure nice to work in.

For the last two weeks we have had mid 20's at night and high 50s to low 60's mid day.  "Normal" weather for this time of year is high teens to low 20's at night and 30-38 mid day.   We have had a few days of ice fog and up to 3/16" ice layer on branches and the ground.

My bees are gathering willow pollen now and are starting to eat the supplement feed I leave for them.

My Old truck has been stuck on a sheet of Ice all week.
It looked like a NHRA burn out today when I got it out. ;)

The weather has been odd, I dug my small boat out yesterday and cleaned it up to go fish for redband trout on upper Klamath Lake.  Normally the lake is frozen in February but the water was 38 last week.

I think it will be a while for mine Keta ,......heard from my son, this morning, and there's over a foot of new snow, and 7 degrees on the thermometer, back in Illinois ! No snow, here on the Island, of course, but we are in a "heavy rain" period, and have had over 3 inches in the last 24 hours, and, more coming !

The frozen trees are indeed angelic and serene, but can't say I miss it!  ;D

It's been in the 90's with 90% humidity all week here.
A cyclone just spawned and coincidently they named it after my wife.  :o
Shouldn't bother us too much, but Samoa and some of outer islands are getting it now.

We've got about 30 hives....at least, that's what we started the winter with. The last few years, because of disease, etc., winter losses have been pretty high, in our area. We haven't been affected as much as some of the big guys, but CCD (colony collapse disorder) has really hurt a lot of folks...losses around 40%-50% !

Several people here have lost 50%-100%.  I heard of 25 hives in two locations but in the same general area had something sprayed upwind and they both had 100% loss.
