I am wondering if anyone can tell me what type of material the drag washer is made of..curious if I can grease or oil to help attain a bit more smoothness.should I get a carbon fiber if available?  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

i don't know.  there are plenty of proprietary products out there.  i have yet to find one that works better than carbon fiber.
