Title: Penn 80STW
Post by: Marlinmate on December 30, 2018, 08:02:50 PM
Is this clanking normal?    Its like the dogs are catching really hard when the anti-reverse kicks in. Watch the video below.  Is there a way to quiet them down?  perhaps with some grease?

It is normal and seems louder because there is no line on the spool.

You can remove the left side plate and add grease. It will help muffle the sound.

I bet when you have a fish on you wont hear a thing!

I too found this noise objectionable.

Here is how I fixed the problem.  Been doing this a long time and have had no issues.

I'd be interested to know how you make out.

Thanks!

I agree its normal. Ive had some internationals pass through me with this noise. Lowers when I add some grease.
