Title: Penn Fathom 40NLD 2 speed help
Post by: Robert S on June 04, 2021, 02:35:49 AM
I have a first generation Penn Fathom 40NLD 2 speed. I used it for the first time last weekend on The Tribute and landed a 37lb BFT. It was one of the smaller blue fin landed on that trip. I was using live sardines with a 60lb leader on an old Saber 6455XXH. The crank arm was flexing and the knob was not comfortable. I really like Alan's 3/0 knob and I need strong crank arm to match it. I want to support Alan. Does Alan have a sturdy crank arm available? and I also need the 3/0 handle. Anybody else been through this? What else can I do?

Alan,  If you have the parts, let me know.

Thank you all!
Robert

yeah, i just worked on one of these, for big fish, i always recommend the large 5/0 grip.  it's more about the size of your hands and less about the size of the reel.  the hard part with the fathoms and torques is that you have to pull the handle off and drill.  it's no big deal for me because i do it all the time.  i'm happy to take care of that if you wish.  i sent you a pm.  thanks!   alan
