I'm thinking a Sat or Sun 8 hr trip just due to the fact that i'll most likely be doing a "down and back" in one day unless my bosses (wife and supervisor) let me get some time off!!!!!
Maybe April 3/4 or 10/11????
Before i get too into all this i'm guessing i should run this by my wife.....

Song Lyrics from George Thorogood.
I said look man I'm outdoors you know
Can I stay with you maybe a couple days?
He said let me go and ask my wife
He come out of the house
I could see it in his face
I know that was no
He said I don't know man ah she kinda funny, you know
I said I know, everybody funny, now you funny too

Ha! I forgot all about that. Let me know, maybe we can do lunch in a parking lot somewhere, lol.
After a year of social distancing, mostly staying at home — fire evacuation — snow & weather — and still happily married...
For now, the plan for the next 6 or 7 months will be using the travel trailer about twice a month for 5 to 7 days a trip.
Desert, Mountains, Coast, Eastern Sierras, Southwest.
Leave for a week in Death Valley next Tuesday. Hiking, exploring, reading, relaxing.
A few more planned for the Southwest Native American areas like Chaco Canyon and some other smaller, more obscure areas in Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah.
Then heading over to the Bridgeport area for Trout opener end of April. Will go over to set up the trailer — then shoot back to get the boat.
Sue has been through a LOT this last year — and leaving her home while I go fishing will not work too well.
I am fortunate to have a wife who relishes and enjoys roughing it — whether backpacking, hiking, camping, or mostly anything outdoors.
Some women's ideas of a "wilderness experience" involves going to Macy's when they are re-doing the parking stripes at the mall.
So we will be doing things together for most of this year.
Best, Fred
If you get a date on post it, I can go I think

Jueno, I don't pay tolls. Those dumb people at the bridge authority sent me one of those white boxes that you put behind the rearview mirror. Now I don't have to pay tolls. Those people at the bridge authority are so nice they even flash a light at me when I go through the toll booths. So it doesn't cost me anything, which makes the bridges free. ::) Dominick

I agree with JT.... When I checked the wind was supposed to less than 15 mph...... It'd be my luck if they cancel....
On windy.com, I'm seeing 49 degrees with 5-6' SW swells @ 10-11 sec and 8' NW waves at 10am on Saturday with 15 kt NW winds, gusts to 21. I'd call that glad I'll be at home!

I too agree I DON'T THINK we will be going fishing on Saturday,
Check out this site!! Cape San Martin is our fishing grounds.

Not to be the dream killer BUTT,
Saturday Winds to 30 mph, Gusts at 35 mph,
Waves 10 1/2 feet at 9-second intervals. We'ze NOT going.
BUTT let's wait for Capt. Sal to provide the final word.
Jonathan, you still up for surf fishing at Pescadero??? I am.
Wayne
And this , .SYNOPSIS...07/349 AM.
Gusty northwest to north winds will affect southern Santa Barbara
County and the Interstate 5 Corridor later today into Sat, with
gusty winds also expected at times in the Antelope Valley, on the
Central Coast and in the Los Angeles County Valleys. Minimal night
through morning low clouds and fog south of Point Conception will
increase over the weekend, while they will remain widespread on
the Central Coast and in the Santa Ynez Valley. Temperatures will
average 5 to 10 degrees above normal in most areas away from the
immediate coast through Saturday, then gradual cooling is expected.
&&
.SHORT TERM (TDY-FRI)...07/421 AM.
Low clouds and fog were widespread on the Central Coast, in the
Santa Ynez Valley and across the interior valleys of SLO County.
South of Pt Conception, there were no low clouds, although some
were beginning to form in Orange County and in the coastal waters
to the south and west of Los Angeles County. By daybreak, it is
possible that areas of low clouds and fog may push into coastal
sections of L.A. County. Any low clouds should clear in most
areas by late morning, but there should be enough high cloudiness
to make for a partly cloudy afternoon in most areas.
Winds have dropped below advisory levels across nearly all of
Santa Barbara County early this morning. However, N-S gradients
are expected to increase again late this afternoon and evening,
and winds will likely again reach advisory levels from Refugio
westward this afternoon, spreading eastward to include most of the
Santa Ynez Range and locations in the south coast of Santa Barbara
County below passes and canyons later in the evening. Winds should
also reach low end Wind Advisory levels through the Interstate-5
Corridor by late this evening. At this point, expect winds to
remain just below advisory levels in the Antelope Valley through
tonight.
Rises in heights and thicknesses and weaker onshore gradients
should allow for several degrees of warming in most areas today,
especially away from the immediate coast.
An upper trough will swing through the Pac NW tonight and Thu,
then into the Rockies Thu night and Fri. This will cause the
upper level flow to become more west northwesterly and increase
in strength across the region late Thu and Thu night, with a
decently strong jet over the area into Fri night. There will
be increasing subsidence across Santa Barbara County Thu night,
overspreading the region Fri. At the same time, N-S gradients will
become increasingly offshore between KSBA and KSMX and also
between KSBA and KBFL and KLAX and KBFL. All of these factors
will create the potential for damaging wind gusts across southern
Santa Barbara County, especially through and below passes and
canyons of the Santa Ynez Range into adjacent portions of the
south coast from Thu evening through late Fri night or Sat
morning. A High Wind Watch is in effect for these areas from Thu
evening through mid morning Sat.

Wayne what do you want me to do with the tri-tips?
It'll be a major hassle and I'll suffer through it but I'm willing to just eat them myself ;D ;D ;D
Another great resource for keeping up with ocean conditions. https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/
The nice thing about Dial A Buoy is if you know the Buoy Number/Station Code for areas you fish you can call and get a voice recording of current conditions at that station. Hoping the weather settles down for you all! - john
Is anyone canceling their reservation? Or are you just waiting for the boat/landing to call you and tell you it's not going.....
I relayed the weather forecast to my newbie coworkers and a bunch of them called today and canceled their reservations. I told them that was smart move as these are not the conditions you want for your first trip offshore....
However if the boat goes I'll be on it......
It's looking better as the week wears on. It might be lake Pacific... by Moro Bay standards, by Saturday.

Thanks, Alan for the update,
Checking the NOAA Site for Bouy #46028 - which is the Cape San Martin Bouy:
https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/data/Forecasts/FZUS56.KMTR.html
FRI NIGHT
NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Wind
waves 10 to 12 ft. NW swell 3 to 5 ft at 10 seconds.
SAT
NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt.
Combined seas 11 to 13 ft.
I texted these sea conditions to my brother-in-law (Jennifer's younger brother), who in his younger years did commercial fishing out of Kodiak, AK Harbor for Tanner Crab (aka Snow Crab or opilio) - think January fishing conditions in the Gulf of Alaska - and he told me IF you didn't want to fish in those conditions, you would be left standing at the harbor.
Doug said MAYBE with winds at 40+ mph and seas above 35 feet - MAYBE, just maybe they would stay at home BUTT... probably NOT.
Interesting the Commercial Snow or Tanner Crab harvest season did not begin until 1961.

You can call the Landing and cancel if you're 100% sure you don't want to go. I'd call right now/today to cancel because I'm not sure how far in advance you need to cancel to ensure you get your money back.

I wish I had good news...I'm at the boat right now and Sal pulled the plug for today thru the weekend....it's blowing 29kts at the Cape San Martin bouy right now and it's 10ft at 10 seconds on the swell....not good
Well maybe next time Alan. I will be working my place today.

That's bummer. Better safe to fish another day.
Have a great weekend everyone.
ME??
An old Flexible German!!!
Mentally I'm already in Morro Bay!!
And Jonathan wants a mental day/weekend, so we are heading there shortly. Will stop by Alan's home to stop off some freshly-made brownies from Jennifer.
And Bryan, PLEASE stop by Alan's home for a small bag of Brownies for your family.

I know someone that has a key to the clubhouse & wants to take his mom for a sunset tonight, just sayin' And I talked to the boss this morning.
Sorry about the trip guys - but I have done enough out of Morro Bay to know that with conditions like that, it would cease to be fun about 3 minutes past the breakwater...-john
