Title: Threaded inserts bars base
Post by: skrilla on August 19, 2018, 05:36:53 AM
Anyone have experience installing threaded inserts into the bars and base?

I came across those dreaded S series models with the thru frame hardware and it was all rusted out. Would hate to throw these away. Looking to convert them using hardware. And yes I have sideplates from a doner reel that will work with the normal screw heads.

I tried drilling and press fitting some brass, threaded tubes in base and bars, but it was more trouble than it was worth.

I don't know what an S Series is, but can you drill and tap the holes?

Get a Tiburon frame and be done with it.

The holes are slightly larger than the screws.

You probably can' find a tap for the factory screws anyway but you could go up a size.

Save yourself a few headaches and get a tib frame.

If you give me measurements I might have a set of screws. A new frame is a better plan though.

It's a standard 5-40 tap, but he can't tap plastic holes.
