It was the screw head. The screw (thread side) is 4.85mm
Nice knobs, thanks for offering those to us, Alan.
I have a couple and really like them, now I need to get me the one in the middle...nice.
The Eva I have is 1.5oz in weight and yet very durable.
Sal
I had a very good feedback from Joe (Reel2244). He really likes the EVA-45 knob. So did Sal.
very nice!!!!!
Wow, can't beat these knobs for price and quality. The EVA 45 & 50 knobs are worth double what I paid IMHO.
Thanks Alan, made my day !!
Soooo...Sal/Alan/anybody...for the Eva handles...what diameter do you have to drill out the arm at?? Reason I ask is that I would like to fit some of these up to my already drilled keta kranks which are at 6mm.
6mm is what I was told. At least for the larger Eva knob
Screw is 4.8mm in thickness, screw head is 8.6mm, you will be ok with a 6mm hole.

You should have seen the EVA50, it is little bigger, and it looks great on the 3/0 or 4/0.

Thanks Alan,
I'll be after a couple EVA 50's after the new year.
The EVA 45 I installed on my 9/0 is perfect, and with the 2 sets of sealed ball bearings it is smooth as silk and mounted very solid in the slightly oversized hole in the stock 9/0 handle arm. The knob is also larger than what I anticipated. Very nice indeed.

Yep the 50 on the 4/0.

Hi Joe,
The round alum knob is under the same page as the T-bar, but you can chose which knob you want in that page. There should be 2 pictures of that round knob.
Hi Joe,
It is Ok. Just make sure you check out the right knob description (ALU-49).
Don't worry.

You did a very good job. Now you know how to install this knob.
Alan!! Was wondering, why the gap between the arm and the shank of the knob on the previous pic ? Is it the way it's supposed to be installed?
Marc..
That flare at the end of the shank is a shroud that covers the bearing. That is not the bearing that you can see against the arm. The bearing is concealed under the flare.

I know, just looks odd, you would expect that the silver part would be against the arm flush

Just my opinion but it looks added
Marc..
Yep, that's what I thought. At first I thought I was seeing the bearing and I couldn't wrap my mind around how it was working but everyone seems very happy with them so I ordered just one to see how I like it. I wanted to see which size fits my hand best. So far it seems very nice but I haven't fished it yet. I love Alan T's 3/0 handles but I was looking for something a bit lighter lighter. I will likely purchase a couple more with my next order.
I'm on the fence, maybe shave some of it so it's closer to the arm?
Marc..

Marc..
Marc, as mentioned what you see is normal. The two bearings inside are not exposed. The end of the shaft is what you are seeing. Take a look at the new pro gear V series knobs, looks like the same thing. For only like ~$22 shipped it's worth trying out the 45 mm. I think anyone who likes Eva knows will be very happy. It spins like a top on there !
Marc, as the guys have mentioned the gap is normal on those. That is actually the size of the shaft that has been reduced on the upper part to accept the bearings.
A much better design in my opinion, instead of having a straight shaft that has a washer as a spacer for the bearing, this one has a foot keeping the knob secured.
You could get creative there and place a ring of the correct size, but it would only be cosmetic.
I am ok with as they are, doesn't really bother me. Some of my Accurate have the same.
Sal
Odd that the Model ALU-95 does not seem to have that
Anyway will probably end up with the eva 45 and find a washer for it

Marc; Refresh my memory. But why do you need a washer? Is the screw to long? If so you can shorten it with a file or belt sander or dremel tool.
Joe
To fill the gap between the shank of the knob and the arm like on MikeS51 pic
Marc..
Great knobs alan! The bearings in those are some of the fastest I've ever seen! I would be interested in some smaller eva knobs, say like 40 or 35mm.

If you mean the difference of Diam. between the two, well that's negotiable. But your the one that has to be satisfied. ;) ;D

Yup! that's what I meant :)
Marc..
I think a good handle is the single bigest thing you can do to improve performance of the system and heavy drags.
just my opinion ;)

Help needed,
I'm running the Eva 50 knob on a jigmaster 500. It's mounted on one of the motive Sal style stainless arms. For some reason when I tighten everything it binds up. I've taken it apart a handful of times and everything looks as if should but as soon as I start to tighten that screw closest to the grip it binds and does not freely spin. I've got the same knob mounted on another 500 with no issue it's amazing, also have one unused in the ziplock package that I referenced to a few times just to make sure everything is in order.
any ideas?
Thanks
Trev
Hey Trev, check your knob against the parts diagram inside that plastic tube container they come in. It shows all the washers and parts...maybe one is missing. 8)
Trev, I myself have had trouble w/ knobs, But Allans worked the best. Some knobs work with a washer under the screw your referring to, some don't ??? Mo, I have bought 3 or 4 of Allans knobs and never got a schematic. I talked to Allan and he fixed me up!
I have a good supply of washers so I'm able to experiment with the knob untill I get it right. 75% of my aftermarket knobs have extra washers in them. So my suggestion would be to keep "tinkering" with it or get mad n contact allen. lol

Mo, that looks like the smaller EVA knob, the bigger one is a little different I believe?

Thank you. There are 2 left in stock for this 50MM EVA knob. Get them while they last.
New shipment should be here in 2.5 months, and there will be little price increase on it.Most likely will be about $1.00 more.
Can't buy anymore knobs until you come out with the aluminum 500 handles.

The JM 500 offset handle is done. It has one sleeve hole position only.
It should be here in a month.
Will the 45 size EVA knob do ok in a hole that is 6.5mm?
Thanks,
Jon
Yes, it is a little loose, but once you tighten it up you should be fine.
Sal
The EVA-50mm is back in stock.
Alan are you stocking bearings for these, or do you know off hand the size specs?

Is there any problem with the bearing?
I've had a few in constant use on the kayak so constant dunking in the salt. Even with heavy grease the bottom bearing is starting to go on one. No knock on the quality, it lasted much longer than many other brands. I'd just like to have some on hand for that day in the future.

I will order some, and when I get them I will let you know.
Alan it's one bearing out of twenty handles I own. I'd say that's a pretty great record. Shimano's knob bearings go so fast I just ended up buying in bulk. I'm not looking for a warrantee or anything just let me know how much they are, I will probably want 6 - 10 just to have them.
All,
The silver T-bar is back in stock now.
Please recommend me an EVA knob for a Penn Squall II 15 and a Penn Rival 15.
