in changing the bushing for a bearing? I have a Calcutta 400 I am servicing for a friend and am curious if I should encourage him to buy a bearing.

Thanks

i have found that there is not.  the bearing provides additional support under a heavy load.  unless the reel will be fished with more then 10 pounds of drag (which would damage other parts), i would not bother.  it will not affect freespool or casting, because the levelwind assembly will continue to slow everything down.
