Ring Around The Tuna !
That was one of them !! There was 2 others that were unique .
The krill (downrigger?)release dealie. What else?
What does the ring do?
Could have turn the clicker off, that's annoying. That chum bucket thingy, I have something similar on a sabiki, works good when bait making is scratchy
:D This is a test , what do you see ? :fish
One of these but bigger
Interesting bend in the rod.

I heard on another Japanese video the ring slides around the fishes head and makes it more difficult for it to breath. Seems like they have a very interesting way of fighting those fish over there.
The gill ring is interesting , you guess how big the fish is so you can slide the appropriate size ring down the line . Yes the idea is to keep the fish from breathing or limit it`s ability for a long fight .
The chum container is pretty cool looks like it has a trap door that open and closes while jigging to let out a flow of chum .
There is two more things that are different .
They were speaking Japanese and misspelling the English. What do I win? ;D Dominick

I`m so sorry ,You did n`t win anything , you earned a c - This was a test ,not a contest
You do get a da boy for observing the misspelling ,but the test was for devices.
All kidding aside I was interested in the shark repellant. It looked like a yellow line with a carabiner to run it down the line. Why would that scare a shark? Dominick
That is 1 of the devices also . It looks like a electronic device with antenna that may repel sharks .

There Engrish rooked plitty good to me with ownry few Misperrings and the had Rots of Ruck Flishing.
The Late Tim Conway and Harvey Korman use to Crack me up with their Dialects
Looking for one more !!!
Athe very beginning of the video the captain or mate had just run a slender wire up the spine to stop the tuna from shivering. Dominick
Like the dubbed Godzilla movies!!
Anyway, I thought the fighting of a large fish was a plus in fishing. Didn't it used to be called "playing a fish"? ??? Why send a thing down the line that makes them play out quicker? Did I miss an evolution that has occurred in the sport or is this a commercial fishing thing to get more pounds to the market?

Another Da boy , But i thought most fisher man were quick with the priest or the ice pick ..
As a kid i have seen from time to time trolling wire used to run up the spine .
The most obvious is what ?
Thanks Dominick for pointing out the crew performing "ikejime" to stop the tuna from shivering which causes higher lactic acid levels that affects the quality of the flesh especially when served as sashimi. Similarly, a gill ring was used to shorten the fight, to reduce lactic acid levels, in a fish that will be served as sashimi. The electronic shark deterrent is similar to ones by human divers/swimmers/surfers, in places where sharks are common, such as Sharkbanz.
I think another part of the reason for trying to shorten the fight is to beat the fish before the sharks get a hold of it.
Who makes those rod holders ?
Interesting. The gill ring might mean less O2, and shortens the fight? good or bad for the flesh quality?
The Japanese are so gadget oriented, a bit like me.
