Quote from: Brewcrafter on Today at 02:07:33 AMIncredibly detailed build on a unique reel!  Tons of good info there (and kudos for the photos!), and you are using it to get into fish that is a PLUS.  It looks like you blueprinted this back to full operational status, that is cool! - john

Thank you! Hope this helps others who are hesitant to strip an Altex.

Quote from: oldmanjoe on May 13, 2024, 10:05:13 PM:)  The lollipop is a roller bearing ,has more surface area to grab than the ball bearing .  Keep a look out for hard pin stock that fits the diameter of the ball bearing .

Okay, thank! It looked like from pictures I was seeing that it had a post that fit into the spring.

I had looked at something like in the picture here, but not sure it would be very hard and if it is hardened I'm not sure I could sand down the length.

Thanks

Ordering Reel Parts / Re: drag washer sizes by reel ...
Last post by borntofish - Today at 07:48:51 AM
I was wondering if the drag washer thickness is critical - especially the under gear one? I replaced all the washers with carbontex on my ABU 7500C. I cut them myself from a 0.5 mm sheet. I have since found out that the under-gear washer is supposed to be 1 mm. Will it affect the meshing with the pinion gear? The reel seems to work alright.

Quote from: sabaman1 on May 13, 2024, 04:35:21 PMPj I like your smoker setup. Vertical smokers are the best for smoking meats. All your neighbors are probably attracted to your house when you fire it up. Is your smoker a wood chunk smoker?

It can do both but i use charcoal mostly and add wood chucks as I go
