Hello Everyone,
My name is Steve and I'm out of Citrus Heights Ca just east of Sacramento.
Been lurking here for awhile and finally decided to take the plunge and register.
I've recently been bitten by the long range bug and now have two trips out of San Diego under my belt.
As each trip ends (all two... ::)) I find I've learned more, especially regarding gear. I know there are some real knowledgeable folks on this forum and if you don't mind this "green horn" picking your brains and maybe even asking silly questions it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
welcome!
Thank you for having me Alan!
We have met before, at the ISE in Sacramento last year.
I know you talked to 1000's of people, anyway your passion inspired me to do this long range stuff.
Wife's not too happy with the money I'm dumping into it but she does like the results!
I also enjoy your vacation story's on other boards.
Steve
Welcome aboard, Steve!
Best,
Fred

Thanks again everyone!
Both my kids graduated from Casa Robles high school and my son dated the yearbook Editor!

Hi Stephen, from sunny Western Australia, what reels are you using, cheers Don.
DonnyBoat,
I have been to Perth twice in my long gone Naval days, once in November and almost melted and once in June and thought we were going to get blown away.
I loved Australia such friendly people but your Diggers sure like to fight when the Sheila's paid us Yank's any attention!
Reels, lets see, in 2 speed I have:
Avet PRO EX 30/2 is my current 100# reel.
Penn International V 12VS which is my 80# reel.
Penn Fathom 40N Which is my 50# reel.
So Cal 15W-II which is my 30# reel.
Avet SXJ6/4-MC which is my 20# reel.
I also have a Poseidon 400R which is a paper weight...piece of junk lever drag locked up on the very first paddy cast last year.
Single speeds I have:
2 Penn Senator 114's that I use for Albacore trolling.
Penn Squall 50LW also for Albacore trolling.
Daiwa Saltist LD30HSH my backup 30# reel.
Avet MXL 5.8 my backup 50# reel.
Penn Pier 209LW (kids loaner)
Daiwa Lexa-WN 400HS-P backup 20# reel and popper kit.
And I have a spinning surf reel, Penn Battle II 6000
