Title: Unknown lever Reel
Post by: Cuttyhunker on November 27, 2018, 02:36:44 PM
This one came in a milk crate deal, functions feel International solid, drag lever works fine but the clicker button is frozen.   Plenty of boat rash and the size is about the same as a Penn Mariner.  There is a round indent near the clicker on the tail plate that was possibly an old label.  Anyone know what it is?
Thanks,
Bob

Fin Nor Viscount? Golden Regal?

Chris is right —

An old Fin-Nor.

Likely a Regal 20 with a homemade crank knob.

With a good restore, full salt lubing, and upgraded drags — these are capable reels.

Best,

Fred

I'm almost certain it is an old FinNor 20. Those are neat reels-- although they did ship with a cork drag washer.

Would there be any "tells" to look for opening the reel up

I just noticed a suspiciously familiar reel in a cradle on the ORCA home page

I agree - looks like a Fin Nor.
The only unusual element is the 2x2 screw placement in the side plates.
I've only ever seen 4x1, ie north-south-east-west, in these.
Well worth a resto though I reckon!
All the best, Justin
