One more time, you guys have a blast. I'll be somewhere underwater for all I know.
Ron
Wonder what the chances are that Sal and Daron will sign up...
I knew Ron would be rigged to dive somewhere but Daron and Sal would be a dream addition...And now that Bryan is a Long Range vet ?
BT
Yup, come on girls it will be a fun trip.
You Hear that Sal? Lee calling us Girls! :D

Lee is trying everything to lure us in, he knows how thick skinned I am, I'm not sure why he believed that would work :-\.
I would really want to meet everyone on here, unfortunately it isn't the right time. I have another starting college soon :(.
Sal: I got a 31 year old that's a chemist for the Federal crime lab locally and now an 18 year old that thinks mom and dad should still pay for everything and I'm going...Not to mention the IRS and grandchildren...No wonder I'm fat, old and grey haired at 52! Family first my friend! I hope to share the rail with you someday.

Alan or ? The Spirit of Adventure website states you must have a Passport or Passport card? I have heard conflicting stories on this. Can someone clarify, as I am one with only the card.

Frank Ferger just signed up!!! he says that he is a heavy snorer and he's old enough that he will need a bottom bunk. i can either put him in a cabin with a single bottom bunk or i can take a volunteer. let me know! ;D
I will not be able to make the trip this year, but due to positive circumstances, my girlfriend and I are expecting our second child in May.
I cannot get the hall pass, I dare not even ask, I could never live down leaving her alone for 5 days with a newborn and two year old.
I will be working on some prizes and giveaways for the trip though...
congratulations! we will miss you. we still have a few spots open. please ask around and see if anyone else can make it!
Congrats Scott!
;D ;D ;D ; Congrats to you and your lady ;D ;D ;D
ok, joey and david tang fill the trip!!!!!!!
Happened much faster this time around...
it's great being able to get the band together, isn't it! ;D
I am glad to be able to join you folks and I look forward to meeting all of you.
WoW! that was a quick fill up

david, even though it will likely be cedros trip, the format will really spoil you. there is no crowding the bait tank, no hogging the rail, and there is a minimal amount of alcohol on board..... ;D
Darn Wes is left waiting at the docks, kept telling him to send in his $$......@#$%^&@!!! :o
crud!!!!!! i didn't even notice!!!! we can't have a trip with out wes. who's going to help joe with dolly parton????? :'(
Maybe SOA needs another deckhand? What miracles can be worked...... ???
we have three guys from indiana that wanted to come along. not sure that we will have three guys drop. i've gotta be fair about this is the thing. can wes cook? if by some miracle we do find room for him, we should make him sleep in the bow cabin, way up in front. oh, hey, worse yet, we will team him up with frank ferger. frank says he snores loud enough to wake the dead!!!!! ;D
Geez...won't be the same; I noticed a few waiting on hall passes and checks in the mail......I already told him to drop a check by in case a single slot opens up?
So much enthusiasm, you're going to need a bigger boat. Maybe get the Queen Mary out of mothballs? ::) :D

NO WES ... Bummer dude

Pinocchio Tani your nose is growing
Thank you for the congrats, we are excited!!!
This trip really did fill up fast, I think it will fill up quicker and quicker every year.
....And enough alcohol was left over to fuel a nice size house party for a night.
Is there a standby list just in case someone should cancel . If so , can yo let me know if you need my contact information. And deposit.

I can do a top bunk if I have to but it hurts.
nope. no top bunks for old oregonians..... ;D
Just made my plane reservations for June 19th. My Fathers Day present to myself! Arrive SD at 2:54p on AA flt 1401, so I should be settled in and ready for Miguels by 5ish.
Maybe this year I won't get a taxi driver to haul me to the Vagabond at Sea World.
Need to be at the airport by 9:30a on the 25th. Have an 11:00 flight back to ATL. Hopefully that will all work out.
GA Mike
should be no problem! we'll figure out who can shuttle you back and forth.
Hey Scott
Congrats on the new addition! I was just reading through all of the posts, and saw yours.

Yeah, that will sure put a crimp in his fishing plans for the next 20 years or so :)
Mike Pate
Thank you Jeff!!! Hoping for a boy this time around, I do not think I could survive three women. LOL
I can attest to that Mike, now I am working on a plan to do much more fishing than I did in 2015.

Just take a lesson from my Dad,
Going fishing? The kids go and give Mama a break!
I learned how to drive a boat at about 7 or 8 years old.
ok, gentlemen, we are all paid in full.

Yeah!! Bring on the pelagics!!
we will not know for sure what we are fishing for until we board. there are yellowtail at cedros, but there are also bluefin out in open water. we are looking at 30, 40 and 50 pound rigs for sure, but have one that you can quickly convert to 60 just in case we get into a blue fin bite and they go stupid.

Let's hope the seiners don't wreck the bite again...But 60? after my last 2 years I will be lucky to go a strong 40 and a light 50

Alan? Would be nice to know prior to getting on the boat if they are going tuna fishing or not? I'm all good for gear up to 40# rig but the IRS got all my bigger stuff ;D I'm sure I can cobble together a reel nice set up for for heavier fish and even purchase a belt as 976-Tuna is report 100 pounders on overnighters :o That's a whole different ball game and maybe not everyone is prepared or can afford that kind of fishing. Any input would be appreciated.
BT
Tim, I have multiple 50# rigs if you need one.
i'm going through spectra right now, will start going through the reels soon. one of the things that keeps going through my head is something that i read quite a while ago, that "a general plans for the last war." i'll be making room assignments soon. if you're over 60, got a bad back or you're hard of hearing, figure you get a bottom bunk towards the stern. if you're young and signed up late, you're on the bow. during roll call, you will get a bungie cord to secure rods so we don't have them bouncing around on the deck like last year. so many things to do...... :-\
jack, i found your reel. i've got a new way of stringing it up that i want to try.
Mark, I need a 2 speed reel for my Rainshadow 30-80 stick, I'm borrowing my buddies HX 5/2 and then I'm good. Alan...I'm the guy with the bad back that snores ;D ... My main reason for starting this topic is, and maybe we should start a new thread is that if we encounter some bigger fish that everyone has at least a chance with their gear to land one. Alan has only so many loaners. Maybe a new thread ..Alan??
BT
I have an HX or JX Raptor you could use. I think I'm going with a Saltiga 40ld2 on a Phenix 760xh for 50# this year.
The BFT in my avatar pic was caught on the Saltiga with 40#.

If your're not using the HX I'm in ;D and set...Thank you Mark....Now we need to hear from others???
BT
I'll bring it. It has 500yds of 80# spectra with 50# mono on top. You could always go with 60 or 80# instead if they're eating the paint off the boat. I've been using it with a Phenix 700x2h rated 40-100.
I'll bring a spinner for 50# too... A Saragosa 10k on a Black Hole Challenger Bank S-801H. The Saragosa has 400yds of 65# Maxcuatro so I think I'll be good.
BT,
Like the last two years, I'll be bringing my "just-in-case" heavies--Daiwa Sealine H's for 60, 80, and 100 lbs and the Fin Nor LT100's (if you're a gambling man) for 50/60 and 80/100 lbs...I'm sure there's something you can borrow.
W
Alan, If you've got new intel I'm game.
Jack
naw, just ruminating. also, i found your reel! i just need to spool it up!
My HXJ Raptor on a Seeker Black Steel G6465xh was going to be my heavy rig this trip and I was bringing several 25#-30# rigs for YT. Will a 30 be to much reel? Might bring my non Raptor HX for line capacity.
Lee, you still want me to bring the Battle 6000 with 300 yds of 50# spectra?
Yes, just in case my Clash 4000 gets spooled. I will have a 3000 Battle II for calico bass. After over 50 years of looking down on spinners I think the modern ones are nice. Might bring a 750ss or a 9500s to.
I've been Facebooking with David Choate, Wahoodad. Seeker had a line of cow rods called the Wahoodad series. He thinks BFT are wimps and 40# is all you need for 100#'ers. 50# should be plenty good for us mere mortals fishing for, hopefully, 100#'ers! Lee, your HXJ Raptor should be up to them. Remember, if you fall overboard, it'll be going home with me and your wife will never know you had it!
Ever fish with Dave? He kicks butt on YFT and is a good guy.
Yeah, I've fished with Dave. I'd say I've known him for maybe 20 years?
I met and fished with him a few times around 14 years ago. He, John Grabowski and Bill Casper Jr helped flatten my learning curve.
