Title: Bait rig....
Post by: MassBay on March 20, 2018, 05:44:24 PM
I picked up my first 'sabiki' rod after last season.... 2 kids, mackerel and sabiki rigs are a scary combination. I planned to slap on a couple old 209s that I had lying around but I cant find them for the life of me. So I need to buy a couple cheap reels. Should I go with a new 209, new JigMaster, one of the newer Penn Rival/Warefare or wait till I find a vintage reel at a yard sale? They are all right about the same price.
I may just end up going with the highest gear ratio... less time up should lead to fewer tangles.

Thanks for your opinions

used 209 or 9 on ebay all day for 30 bucks and they are the same as the new ones for all practical purposes. I would def use a levelwind to not be worrying about line lay with a half dozen finny baits and kids scrambling around.
