Title: Avet sx 5.3 help
Post by: Gulfshoresangler on February 14, 2017, 03:18:27 AM
Hello everyone I'm having a little trouble with my Avet sx 5.3.  I have recently just received this reel and took it apart for a thorough cleaning.  When I re-assembled the reel after cleaning my free spool is not really spinning it seems kind of sticky.  I cleaned everything with ardent, sprayed down with corrosion X, and used a little Penn oil.  I re-assembled and this is where I'm at.  Thanks for the help!!

Also, when I tighten the drag down on free spool and start to reel my spool spins.

Did you take the belleville washers out? If so, are you certain they are in the correct order? If the spacing is off, that would explain why you are getting a loss of free spool. It's supposed to go ()().

Did you by chance put grease on the spool shaft? That will slow it down a little.

Is it a magged reel? If so, you might just need to turn the dial.

If you set the preset too high, it will cause a loss of freespool.

There is a washer that goes between the preset knob and pivot plate, any chance you lost it? It's part number 25.

I would pull the lever, preset knob, and cam off and rebuild. Make sure it's all in the right order.
