Title: Penn 225 LD
Post by: dca53 on January 24, 2009, 05:53:32 PM
Alan,

Great site.  Thanks for taking the time to do this.

I have a Penn 225 LD, about a 2003 or so model.  The drag is binding and doesn't perfom normally.  This is the only lever drag reel I have ever owned, so I have not attempted to "explore" the insides.  Is this something I could reasonably expect to fix myself, of is this one of those things that should be sent to a shop?  Any suggestions would be welcome.  Also, it appears that they only made his reel for a few years.  Was it a lemon?

Dan

thanks.  take a look at the 40 gls.  it is very similar.  i charge $40 to go through a reel like this, plus parts and return shipping.  i'm betting you could do this as well.  worst case, you could ship it to me in a zip lock.  give it a try!  alan

Thanks Alan.  I'll give it a go, and try to keep track of all of the pieces.

I appreciate your time.
