One more , stripping the line off the reel in free spool that the line was set at 23 pounds.
Look how clean it comes off .

Have time for more testing , but a little more about the concept of why the pulley is ahead of the reel by 52 inches .

You may know the importance of fleet angles, but do you know the best ways to correct them? Cris Seidenather, managing director of Lebus International Engineers, explains how...
When spooling wire rope onto a drum, it is necessary for the rope to come onto the drum at a very slight angle, just enough to encourage each wrap to sit tidily next to the previous wrap, and for each layer to ride cleanly onto the layer beneath.
In fact, apart from the design of the drum itself, this angle – the fleet angle – is the most significant factor in the behaviour of a spooling system.       More here .       https://www.cranebriefing.com/news/the-importance-of-fleet-angles-and-how-to-fix-them/1082343.article
Another site   https://liftingsolutions.ingersollrand.com/en-us/winch-selection-support/fleet-angle-calculations

And the easy calculator  to use :https://www.wengercorp.com/irigging/fleet.php

The test today were set the base wrap , than let it wind itself . Stopped a couple times to fix a cross over .  For the most part you can see it is self leveling to build the first third of the spool .
This is the start with adjustment made when I came to the arbor knot

This one is just let it run and do it`s owen thing . Had to hold the reel steady .

This one is the start of the second third of the spool . I did not hold the reel steady and the line did jumped a few times ,still has 23 pounds of drag coming off the supply spool.  You will see toward the end the reel drag is giving up .

I just installed the fast eddy ceramic bearing in this 265, it is really smooth ($4.99)! I Also installed one in a 220($5.99),not affiliated with FE at all, just impressed by their performance. Both reels were great before, but it made a notable difference. Also, they had a regular bearing for the Penn 712,best $1.25 ever Spent.

Quote from: JasonGotaProblem on Today at 02:56:39 PMTo her credit and my annoyance my wife is an extremely frugal person who almost never spends a penny on herself, and when she does she feels bad about it and sometimes needs to be reassured that it's ok to be happy about a purchase.

Your wife and my wife are cut from the same mold. Copper wire was invented when she and her brother and father were fighting over a penny.

D.A.M. Quick / 265 Cover Screws?
Last post by jgp12000 - Today at 06:27:19 PM
The second 265 I acquired came with smaller head brass cover screws,
Unlike my 1st 265 has more of a pan head chrome screw.Just curious if
This might be an older reel or a previous owner's replacement?

Quote from: akfish on Today at 05:57:32 PMHmm. Doesn't this mean that the sardine can't really swim? That has to affect the effectiveness doesn't it? A dropper rig with the bait on a foot or two of leader would look more natural I would think...

The great thing about this rig is you can drop it fast and get it to the zone before the fish are gone and it can't tangle.

It does limit the baits ability to swim a lot but it does still move around a lot.

The trend the last few trips has been shorter/smaller jigs like sk, WJC hd, eddie bombs, heavy snipers and tungsten jigs.

The hot jigs right now are tungsten jigs because they are way heavier than lead and come in smaller sizes. Most TG jigs are shipping out of Japan right now so they wouldn't get here in time for your trip.

I highly suggest if you see any in any local store that you pick up 4-6 in the 150-180g size.
