have two Okuma T 50 W reels... one drag not up to snuff... opened it up to take a peek and the stock drag is a thick white disk... kinda slick... not surprised its not generating much effect.
Two questions?
Good carbon or HT-100 type drag washer available for this reel?
Putting it back together i set the adjusting block in and the drag lever at free spool... tighten down the cast control cap and I can't get the drag lever to move at all... what am I missing/doing wrong?

If I understand right you are tightening the preprogram dial up to much
this will set your drag
it isn't a cast control
I cut my own drag washers from sheet
Newer okumas have factory carbon fibre drags
Hope this helps

Duh.... that was certainly operator malfunction... i backed off a bit... and now its working... THANKS!!!
I'll have to give Okuma a call to see if they have some carbon washers... or I'll go and try and cut some...
was it a problem to get the ears cut clean on the washers? (Never cut any of that material)...
Thanks again

I have started using a pair of dividers to cut the washers (double pointed compass) Use the old washer as a template
then sandpaper and files to finish. Takes some time but very possible. Watch the dust though very itchy.
there are a few discussions on cutting washers in the General procedures section
here is a video clip

you could also find a similar sized C/F washer and trim
Good luck
