ez2cdave, there is also a Oceanside pier and I believe it is the longest wooden pier on the California coast. Croakers, sargo, corbina, perch, halibut, rays, sharks, mackeral, bonito and in some years even yellowtail.

He beat me to it. Fished it my whole life. Watched them rebuild it after half of it washed away. If you ever do pier fishing, you owe yourself a trip. I've also caught croaker, halibut and white sea bass on the harbor pier, but that was a long time ago.
