It is a shame they were unable to submit for All Tackle.
Previous largest known YFT on rod and reel...

I wish they grew that big in Hawaii. The state record is 325lbs.
I bet you could easily count the number of 400lb+ YFT caught on rod and reel on your hands.
Did you guys hear about the 480lb YFT taken by Louis Viyella freediving/spearfishing?

Amazing fish, but caught on a rail rod no doubt fished from the rail = no IGFA.

Right..good point.
I catch all mine from the rod holder now days, so I am not IGFA-compliant either. In the 1980s&90s we fished everything IGFA and targeted light tackle records, so things can change.
IGFA or not... that's an amazing catch. Lots of their rules don't make much sense anyways.

That is a monster, any details on the gear used to catch that and how much time it took to winch that in :o
a makaira 50 loaded with 130 pound braid and 130 pound fluoro, and a super seeker osp 3x!
Danke!
Hmm, Mak 50s are used on the rail too.
