Title: Seeker or UC
Post by: RTT on March 04, 2015, 01:17:51 AM
Ok I need a little help with choosing a blank.

The rod will be used for bottom fishing here in the north east with 3 to 6 oz of lead.

The reel is an Avet SX with 50#PP.

The blank will be spiral wrapped. I like the Seeker Hercules gts 70l or the new gts 70HL. The other blank that I was looking at was the United Composites ce700M.

Thanks for your input,
Ray

I have the GTS 70H spiral wrapped and love it. It will work great for what you have described and surprisingly light with a lot of power. The tip is not too rigid either.

Thanks for your input. I pulled on a Seeker Hercules and they seem awsome.  Soft top and the a lot of back bone.

I am reading that the UC with he dual helix is even better.  I am going to see if I can find a local shop that has UC.

The way this winter is going I still have plenty of time.

Where in the N E are you? I have a rod builder that stocks both. He is on L.I.

Hi Mike

I am in NJ.  I plan on going to the Fishing Expo in Somerset and hope to find a UC there.

I'm near JFK in the back of Jamaica Bay. One of the builders that I use is in Belmore L.I.    I'll be there next week looking for a spinner rod for Fluke. Many years ago I used to Fluke out of Ocean City with Cousins.
