Title: Tyrnos 20 clacking noise
Post by: bill collector on November 27, 2011, 05:35:45 PM
I have a TYRNOS 20 that was making  a clacking sound when reeling under heavy drag on it's last fish. I have torn the reel apart and found that the spool had been rubbing against the right side plate, as the finish has been rubbed off about 1/4 of the side plate. I could not find anything suspect in the parts, the bearings and gears seem fine. The spool shaft has some of the finih rubbed off where the right side spool bearings are located. When I put the reel back together if I push on the right side of the spool it seems to move a little, and  I only have the one reel with me so I can't compare it to another. Does anyone have ideas what the problem is?

bent spool shaft?  maybe try rotating the spool shaft 180 degrees and see how it works?  i've seen two tld spool shafts that have been twisted.  if you can do a spiral twist, you can certainly do a simple bend.
