Title: Kokanee v.ii
Post by: Keta on June 02, 2020, 10:36:17 PM
Went back up and was able to fish 5.5 hours before the lake got too rough for my little flatbottom boat.  Got 15 fish and a larger average than last time.

That's beautiful Lee!  Can't think of a much better way to spend some time.
Do those Kokanee have bright pink meat?  My Grandpa used to smoke a lot of the ones we'd catch and they were delicious!

Most are bright pink, a few not as bright.  All are tasty.

Nice Lee. What a beautiful place to isolate

Are you a southpaw or is your reel fished as underhead ??

Yeah Lee, what Ted said.  Life is looking pretty good.   I know you mentioned Calcutta 51 before, but isn't that the original silver one?  Wow.  Try to buy one of those.

Lee

Is there a difference in flesh texture and flavour between these and their salt water cousins?

Thank you

They are the same as saltwater sockeye only smaller, big oil content and tasty.

That is my Makanaw rod, the feel is a Ocea Calcutta.

Thanks lee for your pictures,  I'm assuming you're trolling?  What bait or lures worked.?
I like getting up early too.  Before the wind blows,  very peaceful.  🚣‍♀️

Maybe Lee is reeling upside down and backwards !! :o Nothing like a nice feed of Kokanee that's for sure.

Ocea Calcutta.
Oh, the newest Calcutta instead of the oldest Calcutta.  Thanks.
