Acquired a Quick 800 Champion bait caster reel
that was in need of a complete tear down for cleaning
fast forward.
How to install the changing spring for the bolt and pinion lever?

I have the parts manual that came with the reel
I am quoting the manual for the parts name
CHANGING SPRING
BOLT
PINION LEVER
You are needing three different parts ? Or need how to info ?
In the Factory Brochure that came with the Reel the Changing Spring is Item #10 part #914 5070
Pinion Lever Item is 47 part # 914-5690
and Item 48 Bolt Part #914 5691

I understand where all the parts go.
I am having a hard time of installing the changing spring.
Seems I left out the BEARING PIN which is used
to connect the changing spring to the bolt and
the pinion lever.
Well I use a scribe or drill bit to align the parts from one side then slide the pin through from the other .
I can't post pix to fix your assembly but if you can't figure it out send to me ....lol I will put it together for you or many others here would as well. Good luck to ya.

That would cause assembly problems .
Yes, those HD springs can be tough — until you have done a couple —
Henry (WC) has it right — but here is a procedure that might help you —
Because it needs to be loaded in a "pressure orientation" — and those springs are strong.
Just force the spring under pressure — beneath and between the brass holding mount on the mounting plate & the pinion lever.
Line up the holes on the left side with a pick or small rod to hold everything in place — feed the bearing pin into the right side and through the spring & holding mount as you remove the alignment pick tool from the left side — that's it!
The bearing pin needs no keeper — the long tension spring holds it in place.
Orientation is the long leg of the spring is on the bottom right — flat against the pinion lever — the short leg is on the upper left — just under the holding mount.
When you compare the strength, over-built quality and materials on these DQ Champion baitcasters to other reels like ABU, etc. — you will be blown away.
ABU's, Shimanos, Daiwa Millionaires, and many others — are all better looking reels — with a lot of lighter materials as well as a much sharper appearance. These old Quicks were made to fish with a minimum of extra parts — as well as put meat in the pot.
The symmetry and engineering of using steel, bronze, brass, copper and aluminum on the same assembly — is actually old fashioned, experienced and expert design — based on manufacturing a reel to last multiple generations.
You will seldom need any parts for these — but if you find that you do — I do have them.
