Several months back I decided to collect Ocean City Reels. I contacted Fred to see what he had for sale. He said he would look. I didn't hear from him on the subject for quite a while. I didn't want to bug him since he is so busy so I just let it go. Little did I know that sneaky Fred was waiting for Christmas. I got a package that the mailman was struggling to bring to my door. When I opened it, it contained 10 Ocean City Reels and a Christmas greeting. The man is incredible. He gets my vote for generosity of the year. Ted Measor gets Honorable mention for his generosity. Broadway Dom gets second Honorable mention and will make the generosity of the year award when Big Red shows up in my mailbox. In all seriousness Thank you Fred. Kudos for your generosity and taking the time to send that package (see pictures). Dominick
We all do what little we can, Counselor —
However, I can attest that there are many, many more generous folks on our board than me.
The young man, Harinder, at the Post Office, asked if I was sending out anvils now —instead of fishing reels!
His eyes got bigger when he tried to lift the box.
Best, Fred
Generous to a fault.....Bill
This place has the spirit of Christmas, all year long !
Dominick, you should have mentioned Darin in the same breath. He has paid forward for a long time without asking for anything. Shame. Rudy ps Have we forgotten Sal already?
Jeez I love this spirit :)

Instead of telling me what I should do, you should do it. And no Sal will never be forgotten. See my PM. Dominick
instant collection, how can you beat that? A very nice gesture indeed.
Brendan.
Speaking of generosity, a big shoutout to Jimmer. He is sending me some NOS parts. I can't wait. The Ohana at its best. Dominick

Dom, can you send me Fred's email or something, so I can tell him I decided to collect Saltigas and Van staal reels?
can wait to open my package in few months ! ;) ;)
j/k, ;D ;D
yep, Fred is a great guy
As I showed up above Fred sent me a bunch of reels. 11 to be exact. Then I received an apology from Fred that he was sorry he had no room in the box to add more to the box. In the box is a rare Ocean City 112 with red side plates. I called Fred to let him know that there was a rare reel in the box and whether he wanted me to send it back. He said he knew it was in there and wanted me to have it. Unfortunately a man named Bole Nawarocki etched his name on the left side plate. Some fine sandpaper took it off. Here are a few pictures of the reel cleaned up. Also I cleaned a Seal Beach. Dominick

Looking good, Dominooch! You're gonna be our resident OC pro if Fred keeps this up.
Well done , as usual, Fred.
There are so many people here (past and present) that have opened my eyes to "paying it forward."
Funny thing is, they're usually the ones who want to remain anonymous.
Thanks to those guys... you know who you are ;)
Best,
Dom
PS- Dominooch, keep working until you finish all 11 and Fred will send another 11... his 3rd box will contain only a list of addresses where he wants you to send each of the reels you restored/ repaired so kindly.
:-*
Nice job, Counselor —
These great old soldiers needed a home where they would be restored and appreciated.
Best, Fred
Every now and then I get to catch a perch with a left handed Mitchell and be thankful for Fred.
