Title: Cardinal 3/4 click spring
Post by: lifeofRiley on September 18, 2017, 11:01:43 PM
I have one of each card 3 and 4 that have broken click springs. I have new old stock replacement parts, but was wondering about removal of the broken part and instalation of the new? I tried to pull the part out of the side plate and it seems stuck fast. Thanks for any advice.

They're usually crimped in between the 2 tabs, and sometimes I think someone may have even glued them. I just work them back and forth and around until they come loose and then just pull them out. If they're broken off you will probably have cut them with a mini side cutter between the tabs and drive them out with a really small punch, like with the point on an ice pick or very fine and sharp scratch awl. Crimp the replacement just in front of both tabs on the side plate and then tap it back into place. The flatted crimp area should hold in place. If it has a tendency to rotate after it is bent out you may have to add a drop of epoxy at both tabs. I doubt superglue will hold it in place long term.
