A while back Aaron (Reel Speed) made us some bearing pullers
(http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/pescatore2/media/parts/002_zps26621388.jpg.html)
these are good, but not great on stubborn bearings
Aaron then decided to step it up a notch and made us these
(http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/pescatore2/media/parts/003_zpsd4692d30.jpg.html)
they did the job on the stubborn ones, but unfortunately the tip is too brittle, as you can see here
Here is his third attempt and I do believe his last. These are great, I was able to do anything I needed to do with these
(http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/pescatore2/media/parts/012_zps683b1ea7.jpg.html)
on this bearing I wasn't able to remove the retaining ring, but that wasn't a problem, it pulled the bearing and ring right out

if anyone has one of these Jvariance or similar plate, you will notice that it's impossible to get that bearing out, I tried it with everything I had and still couldn't do it.

this one needed the sliding hammer
(http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/pescatore2/media/parts/029_zps3c82c7b0.jpg.html)
and right out it came, with just a couple of gentle taps
(http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/pescatore2/media/parts/033_zps2d8e7bb3.jpg.html)
the set comes with a sliding hammer and 5 different sized tips that will handle most bearings.
I'm very happy with this set, if you service many reels I recommend that you get one, it will be one of your best tool.
Here is a link...if interested, Aaron has a video on this set
enjoy it!

PRICEY But worth it, I wouldn't give up my set.
If you're in the reel service/maintenance business or serious into the hobby of reel maintenance and repair,
this tool will prove its worth.
Note: not affiliated with Reel Speed
I have 2 of the last ones. 1 I have been using & the other is still packed - Not Used. I bought it for someone & he never picked it up.
I can only comment on the kit and it is a great one, the rest would be up to you guys. Just think about when you get frustrate with a stubborn bearing and smash that reel against the wall, this set would actually be saving you money ;D .
I just sent the check for one of Tom's Squidders. I guess I can't have everything.
glad to hear aaron is getting stuff off the shelf. hope he's doing better.
Are there still be produced and sold? Can't seem to find them, seems to me they're discontinued... Anyone want to sell a set ;)

They should be posted on Amazon.com.
It says currently unavailable.
I would be interested in a set too.
my little pry bar still works just fine! ;D

I contacted Aaron to see what was going on and he said that they weren't moving, then all of a sudden they all went.
He said for you guys to contact him directly if you wanted to, his email is:
reelspeed@yahoo.com
or you could wait until he puts some more on amazon.com

I bet you won't need to cut the newell bearing cup using one of these, send me one of those really bad bearings, I like to give it a shot, just for my own satisfaction.
What is the ball park price on these?
contact Aaron direct, his email is posted above. I purchased mine a while back and I'm not sure if they went up or down on price.
Sal, with the new tips work on the old puller? Also, do you want to sell your old puller? a couple of tips from my puller broke...I knew I should have purchased a few tips back then.
Bryan, I already gave my old one away, the tips will not work with the new puller
To me these new ones are well worth the money, maybe not for someone that services a reel or two a year, but for someone like you do yourself a favor and grab one.
Got one one order. Aaron tells me that he has about 30 sets remaining. I think they are $200 per set if I recall. You can get it from him directly or through Amazon as soon as he restock them.
Some mentioned if this miniature bearing puller was still available. I just heard back from Aaron ( reelspeed ) and he told me that the bearing puller is back on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HZV1LP0
He said that he has been extremely busy with the manufacturing and hasn't had time for much else.
He is getting a patent for these, so he won't lose them as other items he designed.
I don't know anything about availability, price or deliveries, just contact him if interested and the rest is between you and Aaron.
I will say that I've been using mine for a while now and it is one of the best tool I own.
Sal
I'd go for one, but $200 is a bit on the too steep side for me... I guess if I was a reel repair guy this would be the go-to tool.
There's gotta be a cheaper way to make these things??
Maybe they'll get cheaper if he does a large run. :-\
Thanks for the heads up, Sal. You must have magical powers to get through to Aaron ;)
Dom
He must have them in stock again as I just received mine Friday.

Yes he does, I mentioned it above.
I talked to Lou Hamby, the owner of Reel Speed South and he has them for $200. They look like the reel deal. It is called the REELSPEED BEARING PULLER SET and his info is:

I talked with Lou at reel speed a few minutes ago. They have a new batch up these pullers being finished. They should be ready in 2-3 weeks. I went ahead and ordered two of these. One for a friend! These look PERFECT for those pesky, stubborn blind bearings.
A very nice guy who has the ONLY miniature blind bearing puller I could find on the internet.
