Title: 117 eccentric lever
Post by: pennpal on June 25, 2013, 02:24:18 AM
I just bought a older 14/0 that seems to have an issue with the eccentric lever.  Its very stiff and requires a lot of force to move it, almost feels like its binding  and not flipping into either position.. with the clicker set to off the reel is still very noisy from the lever area. somethings not right with it. any thoughts on what it could be and how to go about fixing this. I have no experience in rebuilding or tearing one down yet.

You are in the right place pennpal! Alto has an excellent tutorial on rebuilding this reel on here. Lots of pictures and good advice to help you along. If you plan on using it, you need to crack it open to see whats going on in there. First off, I would suggest a good cleaning. The old grease is probably dried up in there. This thread is a complete teardown and rebuild of a 118. Your 117 is the same. The 118 just has a wider spool.
