Title: Assistance please on a 7000B to a 7000BCT
Post by: dvsh2o on February 15, 2016, 05:36:14 PM
I have a 7000B that I surf fish with and i really like the smaller spool for higher line cap.  I want to improve my casting distance and remove the level wind and added a CT bar, which I have done already. My question is, How do you remove the level wind gear from the side cover without damaging it.

Thank you and i look forward to your reply's..

if it's the snap on type, then make a one foot loop with spectra, shimmy the spectra underneath the white nylon idler gear, center it, then pull up carefully and it will hopefully pop off.

Another option is to use sharp knife to cut the plastic collar off and then use c-clip to lock idler gear back.

Or then build a puller... somewhere on this site someone had made one from a fork...

I use the spectra tip and it works every time.
