Title: Braid on downriggers
Post by: thorhammer on August 04, 2020, 03:20:22 PM
Starting a new thread to answer Lee; I was hi-jacking.

Lee, I have avoided both stacking clips and free-slide because I mostly fish solo, and it's been easier to control helm and rigs running two riggers and two lead cores- I can leave whatever one I don't need to mess with trolling and stay on top of the wheel. The Edgewater hull has chines like a Whaler (same designer) and handles great, but cutting into waves it pulls easily if I'm not on it. Also the leads are 50-70 feet back and riggers are 30 or so, so that helps keeping straight in turns. I'm debating running four riggers when I fish the bigger McKee, it tracks straight. Let me know how you make out with that on the new boat.

I wasn't aware you needed a deckhand.
Let me know, it's only a 5 1/2 hr drive. I can do that in my sleep.
