Title: Shimano Stradic 1000 Drag FYI
Post by: ebroesicke on October 06, 2011, 12:28:01 PM
Was working on my Stradic 1000 last night and decided I didn't like the stock drag (felt?).  On a whim I tried the stock carbon drag from an abu 6501C3 I upgraded with carbonex.  Fits perfectly!  The abu washer is probably a little thinner, but it seems to lock down pretty tight, enough for 4lb test anyway.

Did you try and order Carbontex from Dawn at SMoothdrags for the Stradic???
Seems that would be the best option to me...

If the Abu fits, Im sure she can cross reference it and get the proper Carbontex if she doesnt have them for Stradic..  (Common reel, Im sure she has it)..

Cant beat the Carbontex......

No, I just had these laying around from another upgrade, and thought I would give it a shot.  I don't use the reel much so it seemed like it would be a good place to use these.  The smoothdrags are probably better, but I didn't want to spend any money on this reel.  I should have been a little clearer in my statement.
