I'm personally not a fan of one solid piece, but if that's what you guys like, I'm ok with it, I could always do something to mine.
I was thinking maybe something as this might look nice, but I'm not sure on cost

(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g431/pescatore1/bar_zpscexdjl12.jpg) (http://s1101.photobucket.com/user/pescatore1/media/bar_zpscexdjl12.jpg.html)

Let try to get it going, these would cover many reels. You would have options on the Baymaster, Beachmaster, Monofil, Squidder and I'm sure a few others.

I'm in with two holes.  For if you take out a large portion of the middle you end up with pretty much two bars again. (With an acknowledged bit more side surface area).

Thanks Alan.

Nice, Alan, but I thought the vote was for two holes.

Those are sample. We want to see if the weight will be fine without those holes. If not, we can make two holes during the mass production.

I've got a strong preference for the bars with two holes, as voted.  I also recognize that (1) omitting the holes might result in simpler, less expensive manufacture, and (2) more buyers might be showing up here, and they might prefer no holes.  The holes might save, what, maybe an ounce?  That's significant on these small reels.

Alan, do we need another vote, or do manufacturing simplicity and acceptably low weight rule?

We can decide that after we have the testing result when we put these bars on a reel.

OK, here is an updated on this project.

I sent out a set of this spacer bar to Sal for checking (http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=14550.0 (http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=14550.0)), and everything came back perfectly. That is a good news.

Now, here comes the bad news. After several attempt negotiation to lower the cost on this item, the supplier will not lower the cost on it (not even 10 cents lower). Therefore, the cost is so high, and I don't think that a lot of people will spend that kind of coins on this item.

The retail price will be around $31.00 a piece on this item with the curves as same as the sample set.

For a space bar without any curve (rectangle shape), the retail price will be around $28.00 a piece.

Let me know your thought, please.

I was just thinking the same, also about the divots on top and bottom.  While the divot on top is understandable for line clearance, the one on bottom can only be for symmetry/looks...and every operation increases cost.

I like the idea of having a cheap, plain-jane version that can be modified by the end user...but $28 a pop puts them out of reach for me.  Surely there's another manufacturer out there somewhere that could produce these for a much more reasonable cost?

I was very disappointed with these, holding them I'm sure you would feel the same.  I also understand that sometimes it just can't happen. Alan tried for us to get the price down, but the supplier wouldn't budge...oh well.

Seams like this material and manufacturing is tough to get off the ground. I just wonder if the person that is making these parts is really interested in starting something or just jerking Alan's chain with price and run quantity, I realize that this is not my line of work, but common sense tells me that there is some interest at Alan's end to market his ideas. Maybe he should pursue another manufacturer that is as excited as he is about the products he has been presenting to us on the forum. It is just as discouraging for those of us that are interested in these great Ideas as it is for Alan to present them to us.

Chicken Little had lost everyone's respect by crying the sky is falling, the sky is falling. And I'm not blaming Alan, but when we cry Woolf and theirs none there, well next time who listens? I personally think Alan is trying his best to present something innovative and functional to those of us that are Reel enthusiast, I just hope he can get his ideas completed.

My perspective only, not a criticism. especially I am not presuming to tell Alan how to do business, rather I am feeling the pain with him.

Your point is well taken. I am currently source out another manufacturers. I have not given up on this item yet.

Finally, I have reached a price with my other resource on this part. It will be in T6061 aluminum.

It will be in black or silver. The price is $28.00 a set. It is the same style/design as shown on the picture.

I am waiting for a sample for testing to confirm the fitting on a reel, then it will be in production.

I'm in favor of the 6061 T6, but they would have be anodized, and of course drilled and tapped 5-40.  Holes are not important to me.  I would want 10 sets of 1.625, and 10 sets of 2.125 (better yet 2")  I'll paint with semi flat black for a better matching color.

Reel Man, Black Pearl doesn't offer anything unfinished, I usually get those for testing.
Spacer bars will be anodized in two colors, Black and Silver. They will also be drilled and tapped to specs.
I gave Alan the ok on the part, the rest is up to him.
If these do happen, you will be able to mount them on your reel as you get them.

Swami the skinny Tib spool will work, but along with the bars (146 Squidder) you'll either need Tib's narrow cage, or a modified (narrowed) reel base.

They wont work in the 501 and 349 Richie, same width as you said but the screw spacing is a bit wider on the squidder, surfmaster, etc. Alan C (Black Pearl or Pro Challenger) does make a stainless spacer that fits the 501 and 349, here's a link http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=12127.0 (http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=12127.0)

Thank you Mike I was not sure of the spacing I ran into that on a 99 project last year
ended up with  the wrong newell bars & stand that later  justified making a yellow tail special.
