Title: Record 60 drag question
Post by: Jnorris on February 27, 2018, 05:00:17 PM
I recently installed new carbonex drag washers in my Record 60. The drag stack has 3 carbon washers which I replaced but there is a 4th washer that is located under the gear... you can see it near bottom of picture.

Does anyone know what I should replace that washer with?  My smoothdrag kit had a 4th washer but it was slightly larger in both diameter and thickness so I didn't replace the bottom washer. It also didn't feel like carbon...

Thanks in advance!

Under gear cf works ok but a delrin washer will make for a smoother drag ;)

Thanks TB! I'm not sure what the OEM washer is but it's in new condition. This reel has never been used but I decided to replace the 3 stock washers with carbontex.

Do you think it would be worth replacing the bottom washer with derlin or is oem ok since it's in good shape?

To me smoothness, in a drag, is most important so I would replace the oem under gear with delrin. If you want to use the original it won't do any harm, it comes down to a personal choice.
