Title: Which is the oldest of these spools please?
Post by: basto on March 25, 2015, 06:12:21 AM
Hi Guys
Can anyone please tell me which is the oldest of these 2 spools. Both off 3/0 senators. Sorry to show 2 different ends of these spools but the one with the large nut has the nut on both ends.
Thanks
Basto

The older spool is the bottom picture. That is a 3 piece spool and it is older than the one with line on it.

Thanks Fishead...I thought it was the other way round...glad you put me right. So, would that mean the one with the nuts is the strongest?

Yes the 3 piece spool had some problems so they discontinued them. The one with the nuts is definitely stronger.

Got this one sorted now. I really like these 3/0 senators. Very solid little reels.

Looks Good Basto. Nothing like an old Senator. ;)

Have to agree with that Daron. My next target is a 2/0. I see you can still get alloy spools from Scotts for them.
cheers, Basto

The Spool for a 2/0 is the same as a Penn 501. That's what is in my reel.
