Guys
Got 2 very old Penn 3/0 Senators (Black) with the 6 posts.
Both reels have 2 Belleville (8-60's) between the star and the reel...not between the handle and the star.
What is correct? and why do some reels have this belleville spring inside on the drag stack vs. outside?
Most black 3/0s i see have two belleville washers under the star. I would make no difference if the washers were inside the reel on top of the drag stack -- if they fit, but that depends on the side plate. The black 3/0 was designed for external belleville washers.
