Apparently, there is a bushing-like part under the spool but mine does not have it and the amount of play under the spool makes it unusable. I don't have a diagram, part number, or description so if anyone can assist in finding that part I've very much appreciate it.

Need to know what type of Cardinal reel — there are a lot of reels with that name.
Then the model number.
Then I will pull up a schematic — and you can ID the missing part.
For the most common Cardinals I do not know of a bushing under the spool — and there is only a shield on top of the bearing — if you mean under the rotor?
Photos would help.

I'm with Fred on this. Most of the Cardinal spinners I've come across have push button releases on the spool so there is nothing under the spool other than the forged cross or pin in the main shaft. A model number will help narrow things down.

Don't have parts for this later reel — just the traditional Cardinals from Sweden and some from Japan.

If you ID the part/parts needed under the spool — maybe someone can help. And I will look also through some of my sources.
There might be one of these reels in the bins of excess reels I am getting rid of — but those bins are sealed up now — as an out of state buyer has purchased everything as a large multiple-pallet shipment.

Since it's a newer reel, once you figure out which part, or parts, you need by using Fred's schematic, you can match them up with the part # on the item/description list and possibly find it/them here @ eReplacement Parts.com (https://www.ereplacementparts.com/abu-garcia-c707lx-cardinal-spinning-reel-parts-c-187196_187198_194677.html). They seem to still stock quite a few parts for that reel.
