Title: Calcutta 400D dragwashers
Post by: Killerbug on March 19, 2013, 05:27:10 AM
The new Calcuttas, have two Carbontex like washers, and two Dartanium ones.  Does anyone have a qualified answer, why Shim did not use Carbontex on all the washers?

Its some wierd dragwashers :/
Here are the measurements in mm

Inner x Outer x Thickness

8 x 18 x 1
10 x 22,8 x 0,7
2 piece
8,6 x 24,5 x 0,9

Not sure why they make them so small, there should be plenty of room for:

8 x 21 x 1
10 x 24,5 x 0,7
2 piece
8,6 x 24,5 x 0,9

I use a combination of Carbontex and HT-100 washers (because of the sizes that I have).  I try to use as much contact surface as possible.  I do have to give a warning that this is way more drag than the reel can handle so increase in small increments.

What more presize is HT-100?

Other Shimano reels that use a combination of 2 different non metal washers in the drag are the TLD Star 15/30 and 20/40 and the Triton Mark 1 and 2.
They have only 1 washer that differs from the others. I suspect it is a spacing issue.

And the one washer is not even dartanium, it's that soft mushy stuff.
