Title: help- 30SW shift
Post by: thorhammer on April 29, 2019, 11:45:51 PM
This reel has given me a fit- lost handle parts and plunger due to loose nut....waiting 'til nut came up on ebay...preset cam corroded into follower-snap...finally get it back together for client and shift isn't working properly...I can pull it in and out of high / low just with the knob and not depressing plunger....any ideas? I've already been in it three times, making sure (I think) the pins are locked in (round side out) on the plunger relieve.

thanks,

John

Make sure the plunger, or gears are not sticking and you have the spring in plac, and that the bushing has 2 clean unmarred groves for the pins to ride on.  Sounds like the pins are falling out, or the plunger is sticking.  I would assemble the drive shaft and gears with handle outside of the plate and test functionality first.  Really a pretty simple 2-speed mech, so you should he able to get it working.
