Title: Shimano Tiagra 30 Questions
Post by: Crab Pot on September 16, 2018, 08:56:13 PM
I did a search on the topic reel and can't find a review on the Shimano Tiagra 30.

I have a line on a used one for $200 that looks brand new.

Just wondering what the reputation of this reel is with the membership.

Thanks,

Steve

Never opened one but I have a few tiragras that have a ton of miles on them that still work fine.

Thanks Swami805!

For $200 I don't think I can go wrong but would like more input.

For big fish, you really can't get the higher drag ranges needed. I generally would not recommend it.  :-\

I've fished the 50W as a kite reel, worked great on fish to 240 pounds.  I've fished a 50 a few times, never a problem.

However, I've never fished a 30 so don't know what you might expect.  But,,,,,$200.00 seems like a very good deal for any application up to 100 pound line.

Or, you might spend $500.00 or more for a stronger reel.  I think I might try the 30.

Good luck though, It's an interesting question.
