I'm confused,the handle and the jack are on the same side,,is this reel a lefty?
Also ,is this size capable of throwing bunker chunks into the surf?

It's a lefty. The difference when you hold the reel the shift lever is forward away from you versus righty's are rearward towards you.

Do you think it's too small for throwing bunker chunks?
I'm sorry. I don't know what bunker chunks are.
The reel is the size of a squidder. The 145 width squidder.

Do you know what gear ratio they are?
It says on the side, an F is 5-1 which is the most common. They're are a few other options that are lower but I don't know that you'd find them in a lefty.

This one says L-229-5
L= left hand, 229= 290 yards- 20# mono, 5= 5 to 1 gear ratio...
G series Newell with the steel bearing caps= preferred model...
It says new in box= rare these days... kinda pricey, Butt...
It is a Newell ;D
