Title: Triton 100GT
Post by: AlasKen on June 29, 2015, 09:14:01 PM
I picked this reel in a garage sell a few years ago for a buck.  I ran across it in a box of stuff while looking for something else.  I know nothing about it and I am wondering if it is worth cracking it open and adding new drag washers.  I haven't fished with it but seems to function.  It is pretty dirty.  Any info appreciated.  Ken

Is there a tutorial on servicing them or one for another reel that is similar?  I did some searching and didn't find anything for this specific one and don't know enough to know other reels that would be basically the same..  Thanks.  Ken

This one on the Charter Special will get you thru that reel.

Sorry I forgot the Charter Special is a lever drag.

Yours is a very simple star drag reel that is very easy to service.

Well I tore into this reel and documented what I found.  As I was trying to make sense of my photos I found this tutorial  http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=17.0 (http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=17.0).  except for not having the level wind gears and parts being a different size it is almost an exact tutorial.  I just wish I had found that before I started.  I am trying to figure out how the easiest way to post my build as I wrote it in word so I could drop in my photos and describe them.  I found that this is not as easy as it would appear.  I really need to do it again.  I found my photos were blurry.  Somehow I tapped the zero button on my calipers and screwed up the digital measurements.  That became obvious when I saw negative numbers on my measurements.  Luckily I was able to read the actual measurements that are engraved into the slide.  I was missing photos I needed and had many duplicates.  It gave me an even heightened appreciation of what Alan and so many others have done.  When I figure this out I will post just in case it might help someone but hopefully if they Google Triton 100Gt they will find this post and know to look at the 15/30 LTD Star drag reel.  Ken
