Damn, that's a big'un for sure.
Nice fishing trip.

You bring it to my place, and I'll cook us a feast the likes of which a King's royal kitchen can't rival.

Basically...ONE FISH for the year...although 2 are harvestable...however the likelihood of getting a Trophy sized Ling  over 55"means putting in the time, throwing a lot of juniors back.

"Nonresidents— 1 per day, 1 in possession, 30–45 inches or 55 inches and
longer, annual limit of 2 fish, one of which is 30–45 inches in length, and one
that is 55 inches or greater in length, harvest record required "

Mine was right at the to of the small fish slot.

After my first taste of Halibut cheeks a few years ago....I thought...hmmmm,.....Lings must have nice cheeks, too, right?

WOW! Not quite two meals but they were outstanding! Like the best Rock Scallops you ever ate. ;D

They compared to a Halibut cheek from an 80 pound fish or bigger.

Best part of Ling cod by far is the cheeks, well worth the effort to cut them out

Fins and parts of the Silver carcass as bait, yes.

Or just 24 oz jigs.

Here's a deck shot. Each of us got a Ling, a rockfish, and two halibut. My Ling kinda dwarfs the others :o :D

Here's one a them Lingers a friend got down on the Big Sur coast last Summer. He ate another ling that my friend hooked( a 5 lb'er. )that took some live bait---a 2 fer 1! The big debate was; would his rather large head fit in the critters mouth, I was bettin yes!, but of course he didn't try it...

Southeast Alaska...specifically  Prince of Wales Island has worked for me 20 trips in a row now.  Plus one other trip up near Juneau - right where Gary -aka - gstours fishes around Gustavus.
